New Bedford, MA to Cuttyhunk, MA

Each trip will start with a brief harbor tour covering the history of fishing in New Bedford and the current fisheries and fleets, given by a former commercial fisherman (and your captain). We then set sail for Cuttyhunk, which takes 2-3 hours. You are welcome to participate in the sailing of the boat and learn about sailing, if interested, or just enjoy the ride. We will anchor outside the harbor and dinghy you to shore to explore or sit on the beach for the day. Guided hikes are available, if interested. Lunch in Cuttyhunk will be included. You will be free to explore or enjoy the beach on your own. Optional dinghy exploration to the wildlife sanctuary of neighboring Penikese Island, where there are hiking, birdwatching, rich history and snorkeling possibilities.  Snacks will be provided for the sail back to New Bedford harbor.  *This trip requires you to be fit enough to have good balance and agility for going from dock to dinghy tender and from dinghy tender to climbing onto sailing vessel in varying sea states. Meet at Pope's Island Marina at 8 am.  Return around 7 pm.

Buzzards Bay Sail & Explore
Each trip will start with a brief harbor tour covering the history of fishing in New Bedford and the current fisheries and fleets, given by a former commercial fisherman (and your captain). Leaving historic New Bedford, Massachusetts, we will sail to different locations, but which ones will be weather dependent. Some possible destinations are Cuttyhunk, Penikese, Tarpaulin Cove, Vineyard Haven, Hadley Harbor, Quicks Hole, Edgartown, or Menemsha. We will spend each night in a different anchorage unless extreme weather forces us to stay an extra day somewhere or you (the crew) all agree to spend more time in a specific spot. You can be an active participant in the sailing and learn as much as you like about sailing between destinations or you can relax and soak up the scenery. Take your bagged lunch from the boat and explore a destination or relax at anchor and read a book. New Bedford is a really interesting city with a wealth of nautical history and a great waterfront/downtown area worth a day or two in its own right. Try to plan to explore it on your own before or after your sailing trip. Parking is at Pope's Island Marina where we will pick you up via our tender or use the launch service. All food on board is included. If there are special dietary requirements please let us know ahead of time. *This trip requires you to be fit enough to have good balance and agility for going from dock to dinghy tender and from dinghy tender to climbing onto sailing vessel in varying sea states.
Buzzards Bay and Beyond/ Fall Foliage Sailing
Leaving from historic New Bedford, Massachusetts. Each trip will start with a brief harbor tour covering the history of fishing in New Bedford and the current fisheries and fleets, given by a former commercial fisherman (and your captain). Some possible destinations are Cuttyhunk, Penikese, Tarpaulin Cove, Vineyard Haven, Hadley Harbor, Quicks Hole, Edgartown, or Menemsha. It is getting late in the season so the sailing is typically chilly and breezy. It’s a great time of year for sailing as the crowds are few, the leaves are starting to change and again the wind is typically blowing. These fall trips are geared more for the sailing as places on land have started to close for the season on some of the islands. Land destinations will be more quiet and peaceful. It will likely be quite chilly, so dress in layers. Some likely destinations are Block Island, Cuttyhunk, Tarpaulin Cove, Vineyard Haven, Hadley Harbor, Quicks Hole, Edgartown, or Menemsha. We can also head a bit east and spend some time whale watching on Stellwagen Bank just off the tip of Cape Cod instead and spend a night or two anchored in Provincetown which is a great town to explore as well. Block Island and Cuttyhunk

Exploring Islands in Maine
This trip is geared towards exploring a few of the very many islands in and around Penobscot Bay. You will meet us in Rockland, Maine. We will spend each night in a different anchorage and will focus on sailing and cruising, while also exploring different islands and hiking trails, watching wildlife (seals, cormorants, menhaden, porpoises, osprey, etc) or just relaxing in quiet anchorages. We can gear activities a bit more in any of these directions, based on your preference. These anchorages are special places that feel like you are in the middle of nowhere and offer some of the best sailing and cruising grounds anywhere. All food on board is included. If you have any special dietary requirements please let us know ahead of time.  *This trip requires you to be fit enough to have good balance and agility for going from dock to dinghy tender and from dinghy tender to climbing onto sailing vessel, and from dinghy tender to a beach landing, in varying sea states. You will meet the boat in Rockland, Maine. As the title implies, we will be sailing to a few different hiking destinations in Mid Coast, Maine. A few of these can only be reached by boat and do not have ferry access or extremely limited ferry access. Which areas we go to first or last depends on weather conditions and the types of hikes you are interested in doing. Some places we can sail to hike are Frenchboro, Somes Sound (part of Acadia National Park) and Holbrook Island Preserve among others. All food on board is included. Rockland, ME - Lunenburg, Nova Scotia
This is a trip for people looking to gain offshore sailing experience. Lunenburg is a great town and amazing port to sail into. The town, with its colorful, historic buildings perched on a hillside is one of the most picturesque landfalls you can make. The entire town is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. We will clear into Canada there. We will give you more information on what's required to clear into the country when you sign up. Passports are required. The trip is expected to take 2-3 days, depending on weather. We may need to wait on the boat a day or two to get a safer weather window for departure. If we arrive early, you may stay on the boat while sightseeing. You can make your own arrangements to take a bus or taxi to Halifax (100 km/62 mi) and fly home from Halifax. This trip is sailing oriented with sight-seeing upon arrival, if time. *Offshore sailing can be uncomfortable depending on wind and sea conditions. Hudson River and Around Long Island

7 days, round trip from Kingston, NY.  Weather permitting, we will sail overnight down the Hudson River, past NYC and along the south shore of Long Island to Montauk. This will be a non-stop 24 hour sail.  The following days will be day sails with several possible stops along the way, like Sag Harbor, Shelter Island, Greenport, Port Jefferson, and Huntington.  Then a long 15-20 hour sail through the East River, around the southern tip of Manhattan, and back up the Hudson River to Kingston.

Pelagic Birding/Marine Mammal Watching Trips to the Continental Shelf

5 days round trip leaving Kingston, NY or New Bedford, MA. On the way there is a good chance of seeing multiple species of marine mammals and multiple species of both pelagics and migrating songbirds. Once at the Continental Shelf we will sail back and forth trying to see as much as possible. Going slow and quiet gives us the advantage of being able to see and hear more. The boat has very comfortable accommodations and is very comfortable even when the weather gets a little bumpy. It is an offshore trip and bad weather can happen. Be aware that weather can make life harder than usual offshore, but we'll do our best to give the most comfortable ride possible. It is also a great opportunity for someone wanting to experience life offshore on a sailboat and maybe gain some more knowledge for their own trips offshore. All meals are included and cooked for you.
