Day Sail: What to Bring / What's Included

What to Bring: You don't need to bring very much, but a few things can make the day more enjoyable.

  • Sunscreen or UV protective clothing (Zinc based formula is best, Titanium Dioxide or any spray is also ok). We do have plenty of access to shade on board, but you will still be spending time in the sun throughout the day.
  • Quick drying clothing or lightweight rain jacket in case we get some splashes on the tender ride back and forth to the islands. It is often a bit colder on the water than on land so keep that in mind. Resolution has lots of wind protection and a large, comfortable cabin to escape the elements as well.
  • Bathing suit and towel if you'd like to swim at Cuttyhunk.
  • Comfortable walking shoes if you'd like to hike around Cuttyhunk
  • Flat soled, non marking shoes for wearing on board Resolution.
  • A water bottle for your time on the island (Nalgene, Yeti, etc) We have water on board for you to fill it.
  • If you are bringing your own alcohol please be sure to read the Part 2 Inshore Trips Waiver that can be found under Policies and Cancellations. You must never be visibly intoxicated. If you are interested in helping to drive/steer the boat, you cannot be drinking. (NO HARD COOLERS ARE ALLOWED)
  • A bag or backpack to carry your things is always a good idea.
  • Extra snacks for when you are off the boat or breakfast to eat on board, if you didn't eat it beforehand

What's Included:

  • brief harbor tour of fishing boats with the history of the fishing industry in New Bedford harbor before
  • lunch (if day sail is to Cuttyhunk, then lunch will be eaten at a restaurant on the island)
  • the ability to assist with sailing the boat, if interested
  • sailing basics explained, if interested
  • for Cuttyhunk and Penikese Islands - guided hikes will be offered, but must be requested ahead of time
  • snacks for the sail back
